What’s In Store in Term Four?

18 October 2019

We began the term with a Years 7-11 assembly that was memorable as the first assembly warmed by the new air conditioning system in the Sylvia Brose Hall.

The installation during the holiday break was but one of a number of works that have been done in the holidays to enhance the school by Operations Manager Chris Scrogie’s team and Contractors. Air conditioning was installed in all the Hall spaces, in Class 6 and the Junior Library, and in the high school Art rooms. Quite a job but very efficiently done. With our new solar panels about to be commissioned, the pull on the power system will be minimised as well.

The primary playground play structure was installed and is waiting for a few final flourishes before Class 3 and 4 are unleashed on to its beautiful wooden struts. Watch this space for news of the official opening.

The term ahead holds adventures in body and mind for many of our community:

  • Class 3 present their play ….. 'By the Waters of Babylon'

  • Class 4 parents are hosting the Art Show and Family Fair (November 1 - 3), our Once a Year day on November 2

  • Class 5 holds their Classical Greek Olympics on October 31st

  • Class 6 presents 'Alice in Wonderland' in an outdoor performance on the oval

  • Year 7 2020 orientation and welcome to 25 new students

  • Year 8 Shakespeare festival and project presentations

Congratulations & thanks to Art teacher Alisan Smotlak who this week celebrated 20 years of teaching service at Glenaeon. A formidable record and a worthy contribution to the school which was duly and happily celebrated with all her teaching colleagues.

The Glenaeon Jazz Band will be performing at this weekend’s Castlecrag Community Fair: Sunday 20 October at 1pm.
